The General Overseer of the Temple of God, Prince Samuel Uche Amobi aka Signor Potey, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to urgently put in place measures that would end the killing of people and destruction of property in the Country.
The spiritual healer who made the call at his temple, in Ogidi, Anambra state over the weekend as the country marked its 61st independence anniversary warned that the recent killings experienced in the last 10 years was unprecedented and as such would provoke the wrath of God if it continues unabated.
“’These days we see people waking up and attacking government officials and innocent citizens, we also hear of security forces attacking and invading homes of innocent citizens with thousands of casualties recorded in these clashes. I am surprised that the various arms of government seem indifferent over the senseless rampage hinged on ethnic and religious sentiments’’.
He opined that God was no longer happy with happenings in Nigeria and the world at large, and has been directed by the spirit to warn the leaders of Nigeria of the dark and turbulent times ahead if they do not turn away from their mistakes and seek the face of God for forgiveness and repentance.
‘’An elder who sees things spoil and say nothing is not a good elder, a leader who doesn’t act or speak against evil is definitely not a leader ,likewise the spiritual leaders who keep quiet in the face of evil out of fear or favour. Therefore everyone who is in a position of authority and to lead, be it as a political, spiritual or traditional leader should learn to rise above sentiments in the collective interest of the people they serve.’’
While he called on residents of the South east to defy the Monday Sit at home Order already suspended by the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB but still being enforced by hoodlums and miscreants, the man of God further appealed to President Muhamadu Buhari to grant freedom to Mazi Namdi Kanu and amnesty to IPOB.
‘It is important that we do not use our position to exhort ourselves but to exhort others because the salvation of God is far from the proud and the wicked. If releasing Mazi Namdi Kanu is what will bring peace then let it be so, the issue of self-determination should not be swept under the carpet at the expense of the lives of innocent Nigerians, both parties should sheath their swords because the word of God says it’s better to make peace than to wage war.
The cleric and son of late Igwe Amobi of Ogidi further called on the people of Anambra to be wary of moneybag politicians ahead of the Nov 6 governorship poll but to pray and fast before casting their lot for the next Governor of Anambra state.
