After several months of sensitizations, abatement notices and warnings to residents and motorists, the Delta State Taskforce on Environment has commenced the demolition of shanties, illegal structures and the impounding of vehicles that were defacing the Asaba capital city and other major towns in the State as part of an effort towards keeping the State clean.
The State Taskforce Chairman on Environment, Chief Godpower Asiuwhu, who led his team and other critical stakeholders, including the capital territory development agency, who started their operations from opposite Marriam Babangida junction down to the customs check point, along the Benin Asaba expressway, had a successful outing on Tuesday, September 24th.
Addressing the media on the outcome of the exercise, the Taskforce Chairman, Chief Godspower Asiuwhu insisted that there would be no sacred cow in the enforcement of the law, adding that their approach was going to be holistic with the aim of making the state clean and tourism friendly.
Some defaulters who’s vehicles were impounded and claimed ignorance to the earlier warnings would have their offenses and fines determined by the mobile court.
The demolitions and operation clean, healthy and beautiful State capital continues on Tuesday.
