After several weeks of regorous sensitization and public enlightenment, the Delta State Taskforce Committee for the implementation and Enforcement of registration process for immigrants, labourers and scavengers on Monday, April 29th, officially commenced the data capturing of artisans at their convergent center, along Oko road, within Asaba metropolis.
The capturing scheduled those that were formerly at Koka junction unit for 29th to 2nd of May to be profiled, while others at LG, Independence Mall, custom, Issele Asagba, Akpu junction, ULO, Mariam Babangida junction and Camp 84 junction units will take their turns afterwards, according to the chairman of the Taskforce Committee, Chief Godspower Asiuwhu, who described the turnout as very impressive.
It would be recalled that most residents of the state have raised security concerns about the influx of some unidentified individuals from various parts of the nation and the neighboring countries into the state capital, with the guise of being a menial job worker, otherwise known as kpomkpom at various strategic locations, coupled with the nuisance most of them constitute, defacing the aesthetics of the entry points to the urban city.
Although some of them have vowed not to go anywhere, will they be able to withstand the might of the government?
Interesting days ahead.
